When I worked in Arizona hospitals, we noted a significant hoarding problem with the isolated elderly in the Sun Cities. In particular, animal hoarding was a difficult issue to deal with. So I was pleased to see a website for the Arizona Hoarding Task Force:
The Arizona Hoarding Task Force (AzHTF) is a collaborative effort of diverse community organizations and representatives dedicated to the education, prevention and rehabilitation of the complex behavioral disorder of residential hoarding. Our mission is to provide a statewide resource for those communities affected by hoarding while keeping the health, safety and dignity of the individual a priority.
The site is broken into three major sections:
1.Community and Personal: resources meant to help hoarders or those in their families or local community
2.Professional and Government: resources and agency listings for government and professionals associated with hoarding
3.Hoarding Task Force: The Arizona Hoarding Task Force, meeting information, officers, meeting minutes, and more.
The community and personal links may be of help to someone concerned about hoarding behavior and the work of the task force may be of help to other communities who wish to impact hoarding in their communities.
